Kicking Off 2025 With Heroic Elite
My obsession with personal & professional development began during my undergrad years at MIT. Since then, I have plunged into a new program every year to force myself to grow. Here's my 2025 pick.
I still remember nearly drowning during my freshman year at MIT. I wasn't stupid, but I was woefully unprepared for the workload and intensity I faced every week. At one point, I started to draft paperwork to transfer out. Just typing that brings me back to those dark moments of depression, thinking the admissions office made a mistake in letting me in.
A huge turning point was discovering Getting Things Done (GTD) by David Allen. While not a cure-all, this framework helped me with the mindset and tools necessary to be efficient and effective. In short, it saved me from drowning.
That was the moment I caught the personal and professional development bug. I ended up exploring everything from out-of-body experiences (The Monroe Institute) to energy medicine (EFT) to flow states (The Flow Research Collective), etc.
And yes, a word of caution.
Some people become obsessed with self-help to the point that it becomes a goal in itself. That's way too far. The purpose is not to cram your head full of knowledge and get the warm fuzzy feeling that your life is improving just because you took a course. Where the rubber meets the road is making big decisions and taking clear, consistent actions.
So, what's in store for me in 2025?
If I'm being blunt, I've struggled in two key areas of my life over the last few years: energy and consistency. I used to be able to work long hours over multiple days/weeks and never feel the hit. That's not the case anymore. I don't have never-ending reserves anymore, which makes it challenging to be the best version of myself for myself, my family, and my work.
Heroic Elite is the perfect match to address these shortcomings. I've been following Brian Johnson for a year, having read his book Arete, which features 451 micro chapters and the daily +1s he publishes on his app. What impresses me about Brian is his almost superhuman-like energy despite being a decade older than me. I want some of that energy, all day, every day.
This 101-day course focuses on consistently improving the big three dimensions of what Brian calls your "Soul Force." These three factors are energy, focus, and WIN (what's important now). If you want to know more about these things, I highly recommend his book. The Audible version is fantastic.
I hope this course will elevate and sustain my energy over the long haul. If I get that one benefit, I'll consider the course a huge success.
If you have the financial means and desire to enroll in a course with me, check it out. If not, I plan to recap my experience once it's over.
Until next time. Cheers.
